Message from Department Head




Assoc. Prof. Samatchai Chamnongkich, Ph.D., P.T.

Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, Chiang Mai University offers study programs both at undergraduate and graduate levels. Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to learn physical therapy basic knowledge and strengthen various clinical skills through standard physical therapy practice such as evidence-based practiceand clinical decision making. Student will also have a chance to practice research methodology and develop leadership skills which are considered basic features essential for becoming a productive physical therapist and as foundation for continue higher education in the future.

The Department of Physical Therapy offers a study program emphasizing on all physical therapy specialties including musculoskeletal, neurological, pediatric, cardiopulmonary geriatric, and community physical therapy. This emphasis on specialization allows thedepartment to provide both undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to take more advanced courses in these areas of study. The graduate students can enhance research skills through various elective practicums.

Our faculty and staff are well-known and their academic and research abilities have been recognized nationally and internationally. We are committed to the development of the Department of Physical Therapy, CMU to be one of the largest and strongest in the country. To achieve this intention, the Department has created a network with various academic units as well as the sources for student internship. In addition, the Department also provides well-equipped research laboratories. This fertile environment has allowed our academic staff and studentsto achieve various research initiatives. We hope our website provide you a wealth information which describes programs of study, personnel, and our academic activities here at PT, CMU.
